I'm really getting worried (little TMI)
Has anybody else ever had this?
For the past 2 years my period as totally changed (I'm 39). I had been spotting throughout the month, very crampy and had very heavy bleeding. I went to the doctor - he has done a thryroid test, sonograms, a biopsy, a D & C (about a year ago) and everything was fine (nothing abnormal). He put me on Loestrin to regulate things and although it helped my period get lighter, I was stlill spotting here and there throughtout the month. He changed me over to Femcon (I've been taken this one for about six months) and I feel more screwed up than ever. My breasts get swollen and sore around day 9 or 10 and then I start spotting around day 13 and spot right up until I get my period at the end of the pack. I also feel totally not hormonally balanced for 2/3 of the month - like constant PMS. I basically have one good week.
Anyway, I called him and told him what was going on and he wants me to come in for another sonogram. I'm so worried even though everything checked out o.k. about a year ago. If I were going through "the changes" early would the pill not work? Is Femcon a strong one because I know Loestrin isn't. My mother was about the same age when she started, so I wonder if this could be the beginnings of it. Would the pill not work then?
Sorry this is so long, but I am getting frantic!

Re: I'm really getting worried (little TMI)
My SIL is around your age, and she was recently diagnosed with fibroids in her uterus which enlarged her uterus to be the size of a 10 week pregnancy...thus when the time of the month came, she would bleed uncontrollably and for a few days straight. She is being treated for it now, she had the D&C and some other procedures performed to get rid of the fibroids.
Either way its treatable and your doctor seems like he is on top of it...I wouldn't worry too much.

I was hoping last year that is was fibroids so I at least knew why this was happening, but I didn't have any.
