For those who are TTC, this may help you...

Hi Ladies!

I am not TTC, but I wanted to post some info I just found out about today that I thought may help some of you.

I was in Whole Foods Market today and there was a homeopathic pharmacist there that I asked some questions to. I asked her about homeopathic remedies I could take to combat the fatigue I was having as a side effect to my beta blocker (heart med that I am on).

She suggested this:
MACA POWDER

Apparently, this stuff makes you super fertile. Knowing that my SIL is TTC, I asked if she could take it while on Synthroid (SIL is on that) and you can. I am on it with a beta blocker for energy. I have the IUD, so I do not need it for fertility.

Also she motioned a list of high estrogen foods that act like pseudo birth control when these foods are in your system.
Here's the list:

Phytoestrogen Food Sources List

She told me of at least four of her friends that took MACA powder and cut these foods out of their diet. ALL FOUR of her friends were preggo within 3-4 months after over a year of trying.

I do not know if this will help any of you, but I figured I would pass on the info. Baby Dust to you all!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I have heard of it and heard the same thing. You can easily research herbal remedies on the internet. Thanks for the post. There are validated studies doen using the scientific method on maca. Its funny because people die from birth control(stroke, blood clots) and Dr's prescribe them like they're candyChat Icon

Re: For those who are TTC, this may help you...

I am totally going out at lunch today and buying this stuff!!! Not even so much for the fertiltiy aspect but for the increased energy and better well being in general!! I can't wait to start taking it. I will keep you all posted on how I feel. I think it takes a few weeks to feel a difference, so I will check back in then.

Here is a link to the page I found when I googled MACA Powder. Info on MACA Powder

That is why my cardiologist and OB/GYN suggested the IUD for me. I was on BC for two months (3 month before my surgery and before I had the IUD put in), in that time I had two episodes of artial fibrilation. They think the artial fib was eigher hormonal, BC pill reacting to my heart medication I was on at that time, or a freak thing. BC is pretty dangerous stuff if you have heart, circulation, or pulmonary issues.

The kind I have and the kind that was recommended was a Maca Powder that you can mix in smoothies, yogurt, juices, etc. It's kinda like metamucil in texture.

When you click on the link in the OP, the foods in RED are the ones that have the highest phytoestrogen content. The other foods have a lower content, and should be eaten very sparingly. The RED foods should be avoided if you are trying to TTC, or have a hormone sensitivity.

Ok, so I bought the MACA in pill form. I will be more likely to take it if it's in pill form. How many times a day are you taking this? The bottle says 3 times a day? That seems like a lot. TIA!

It's an adaptagen, so I take a tsp of the powder a day which is the right dose for me. Start with three, if you need less you will know it.

I was taking maca powder. I used to mix it in some Simply Orange juice, a banana and toss in some frozen strawberries and put it in the blender. It was really good, didn't taste the maca at all. I wan't TTC at the time of taking it, unfortunately I didn't notice an increase in energy
