Can someone explain to me how many points they typically allow a person per day/ week?

I fluctuate btwn 145-148 and I'm 5'10" I know I am on target for my height, but I've always been a MUCH thinner girl (like heroin skinny) so I am not comfortable with my figure now...and I feel uncomfortable in my clothes.

I also work out 3-5 times a week, an hour at a time... It seems as though I just cannot lose weight and I'm thinking of joining WW to keep better track of what I am eating etc.

Perhaps I won't lose weight but I want to be TONER and since I workout so much, it has to be my diet. I've been eating pretty healthy lately but obviously I'm doing something wrong if I'm not seeing the results I want.

I used to have muscles and madonna arms (before she got ridiculously ripped)

Re: WW

use this formula:

this is from poster mikeswife. I copied it for you.

The following are the questions that you use/answer to determine your daily point allowance:

1. Are you:
Female = 2 pts
Male = 8 pts
A Nursing Mom = 12 pts

2. How old are you:
17-26 = 4 pts
27-37 = 3 pts
38-47 = 2 pts
48-58 = 1 pt
Over 58 = 0 pts

3. What do you weigh?
Enter the first 2 digits of your weight in pounds

4. How tall are you?
Under 5'1" = 0 pts
5'1" - 5'10" = 1 pt
Over 5'10" = 2 pts

5. Do you spend most of you day:
(a) Sitting down = 0 pts
(b) Occasionally sitting, but mostly standing (teacher, sales person) = 2 pt
(c) Walking most of the time (waiter, mailman) = 4 pts
(d) Doing physically hard work most of the time (construction, nurse, gardener) = 6 pts

Add up your score and that is the number of points you get for the day.
As you lose weight, your number will decrease because of question # 3.
The minimum number of points you are allowed to have is 18 and the max is 44. So if you add your score and it is 17, make it now 18.

Re: WW

I don't want to give you (or anyone else reading this) a complex but it sounds to me that you may just want to work on your body composition and not necessarily lose weight but convert fat to muscle. There is a term for this called "skinny fat". You can read more about it
HERE

Hope that helps!!! Chat Icon

I read your other post but didn't respond because I didn't have anything to add (about running and breathing). I get you work out a lot but maybe your body just needs to be challenged. I have had some success following the making the cut program by Jillian Micheals. I actually work out LESS and get better results because of her circuit training method. I just ordered (don't laugh) LL Cool J's platinum workout which seems to me is pretty similar. I would really think about maybe overhauling your workout routine!

Good luck!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: WW

I looked up your healthy weight range for your height and the lowest you should be is 139. You can definately join to get a handle on your weight, but they won't let you go below 139. So, at this point, you could definately join at 145 or 148 and lose the 6-9 lbs.

Good luck!

Re: WW

I wanted to add: you could try mixing it up a little. Try adding a little more protein and lots more veggies. Watch your sugar and make sure you get in your whole grains. AND your healthy oils. The oils really do help with the weight loss.Chat Icon
