Cat sitting costs

I was hoping someone might be able to give me a little help.

My family and I are going to be going away for a week and need to have someone come in and feed our 2 cats while we are away. A neighbor has a 15 year old daughter who she thinks might be interested in doing this for us. But I have no idea what would be fair to pay her.

It would be coming in once, (maybe twice a day if she can) and feeding them, maybe being there for a little while and maybe scooping the litter box a few times.

Any thoughts would be really appreciated!

Re: Cat sitting costs

i did this a few years back but the woman made me sleep over even though the cats HATED me and never came out except at night when i was in bed. She paid me about $40 a day for 4 nights.

I would say if she really wasn't hanging out $20 is more then fine, if she says she will spend some quality time then $30-$35

For a whole week for a 15 year old or an adult I'd do $50, personally. (Which is about $7/day for the 7-14 times she'd be going to your house). A stranger would probably be more $ anyway and this a person you trust.

I agree with this...$50. A couple of years ago I used a pet sitter, who happened to be a vet tech from my old vet's office. She charged $20 each time she went. I'd take a trusted neighbor over a stranger any day.

I pay our cat sitter $20 a day. She drives about 15/20 minutes to our house and she takes in our mail and waters the plants in the summer. Oh, and she feeds the fish in the pond.
