Recommend your Pediatrician! (Islip/Bay Shore area)
I figure it's about time I picked one!
Do you have a FANTASTIC and kind pediatrician to recommend?
How does this work? Do I go meet the doctor before the baby is born?

Re: Recommend your Pediatrician! (Islip/Bay Shore area)
I am going to go to Dr. Timothy George's practice in West Islip. He's excellent, as are the other docs in his practice. I know Dr. Mariwalla (who is also in West Islip) is supposed to be excellent as well.
I'm not going to meet with him before hand. Personally, I'm basing my choice solely on his credentials and reputation. To me, the rest of it is irrelevant and I really don't have the time to sit and chat about office hours and vaccination schedules. If it's something that will make you feel reassured about your decision, you should do it.

Re: Recommend your Pediatrician! (Islip/Bay Shore area)
I live in Islip and I take my dd to Dr. Constantatos in west babylon. Its only about 10 minutes away and there weren't many dr's around that fit my criteria. I wanted a single practitioner. I don't like the big practices. I wanted someone who strongly believed in vaccinations yet wouldn't give more than 2 at a time. I wanted someone who would fit me in whenever I need an apt and someone who was young enough that they would not be retiring while my dd was a patient
I do think its important to meet before hand. Especially if you are looking for something specific. What works for one parent may not work for another. Good luck

Re: Recommend your Pediatrician! (Islip/Bay Shore area)
We tried Dr.mariwallas group but its a huge huge practice we would wait at least an hour you are a # the doctors never remembered who we are. My dd had a ton of issues in he beginning and she would blow me off telling me I'm a new mom and don't know what I'm talking about. I'm also a nurse and did have a clue and was very very unhappy here. the pa Andrea was amazing though but mariwalla would never let me see her even upon request.
We are now with Dr.Matthew,George, fiuamiano on montauk hwy in west slip. They are amazing never wait more then 10-15 min they know us when we walk in all 3 Drs are familiar with my daughter and know her! It's very homey and they listen to all my concerns and have never once blown me off.
I also hear Timothy George is amazing. He only takes new patients from newborns so we couldn't go there.

This is our first baby, but we chose Dr. Woletsky also. My nephew is a patient of his, so was my SIL, and they love him. I met with him a few weeks ago and was very happy.

I recently switched to Dr. George's practice and am thrilled with them. They have two separate sick and well rooms, the wait time is minimal, everyone is really nice and the doctors are thorough. Also, the hours are great! The last office we used was awful bc they were never open, we would wait 2 hours sometimes and the doctors would come in for a fw minutes and were hightailing it out of there. Also, they misdiagnosed DD twice and we ended up int eh ER with her bc of it!

Re: Recommend your Pediatrician! (Islip/Bay Shore area)
Im a first time mom, but we are going to use Eisenberg Pediatrics in Sayville, since they came very highly recommended to us! Hoping they are good!
I called the office to make sure they take our ins, find out what hospital the are affiliated with (Good Sam, and Southside), and make sure someone is always on call.
I do not plan on interviewing them since they came recommended, and if I don't llike them, I can always swith!
They have 2 Dr's and a NP.

i disagree. I take dd there and my sister takes her twins there and we did not have an experience like you just mentioned. never have to wait long and the drs are very caring and remember us. they have saturday hours and when sick always able to get apts quickly. we really like the group. also theres only 3 drs and 1 pa. i dont consider that huge.
