Day 6 of 3 day method...
I don't know what to do. I'm following the 3 day method since Wed (did the 3 day method without the PDF starting Monday- I was basically doing it right). DS is just not cooperating! He still fights every time I want to put underwear on him. He will not tell me when he has to go. I will remind him and he'll say he doesn't have to go and then pee 2 seconds later. I don't know what to do with him! I've been rewarding every pee with stickers and giving him prizes when he gets 10 stickers. I tell him a million times a day that he's my big boy. He will tell me as soon as he starts going, but won't hold it until he gets to the toilet. He tries to extort me too - he says he wants chocolate and tries to go a million times to get some, but never actually has to go. I don't know what I'm looking for - advice, support...I just think my kid can be an a$$hole sometimes and it's frustrating!!!!!

Day 6 of 3 day method...
I have the most stubborn child on the planet. He used to do the exact same things your DS does. I know it's the last thing you want to hear, but he just may not be ready. I've tried it all, 3 day method, charts, rewards, etc. he would hold it in for HOURS then pee while he slept. The literally last week , DH took him to the bathroom, DH peed in the toilet then told DS it was his turn. He pulled down his pants and went. Knock on wood, he's been doing great ever since.
I truly think that you have to just let them do it when they're ready. Have the potty out and encourage him, but don't force it.

He isn't ready... How old is he? He has to be ready to do it or it will be a HUGE struggle... Take a break for a while and then try again.. Leave a potty out for him to see and get use to it..

Day 6 of 3 day method...
He turned 2 in Feb. I wanted to do it before I went back to work after being on maternity leave since Dec. I wasn't going to push it, but he's the one who showed interest in the toilet. He always wanted to go and he wanted to wear underwear. He was amazing the first day! Then it fell apart :(
ETA- I go back to work May 1st and DH will be with the boys (DS2 is 5 months) until I get home from work at 430. If DS1 is still having problems, DH will probably put him back in diapers. I don't think he could handle watching two of them and constantly cleaning pee!

Re: Day 6 of 3 day method...
Well, your DS is much younger than mine was when we did 3 day (he was 3.5), but it took him 9 days to really get it. If you can, I'd try a few more days and then reassess.

Re: Day 6 of 3 day method...
We did most of the potty training without any undies or diapers. When kids were consistently peeing in toilet, we introduced undies... When consistently peeing taking off undies, we moved to undies & pants.
We did no rewards. Just expected them to know pee doesn't go on the floor.

I agree. We pretty much let DD self wean from her paci, her bottle and then let her lead the way with potty. Everything was a breeze and she is a most thick headed child!

Same! When we first tried to take the bottle away at 12 months it was horrendous! She would scream and writhe...literally WRITHE like a drug addict going through withdrawals. We gave up at that point and at 15 months she gave it up with no problem and no tears. Its a much gentler, stress free way.

Re: Day 6 of 3 day method...
It took us 7 or 8 days before it clicked for DS. If you can hang in there a few more days, it's worth a shot since you've already put in so much effort, but there's no shame in taking a break & trying again in a few months either.

I read some of the pdf and showing interest in the toilet is t considered a sign of readiness. Thought that was interesting, but it said most toddlers have a fascination with things and how the work, flushing etc. doesn't mesn he's ready for potty training.
I wouldn't force anything. Try and see how it goes. If it's not working try again in a few months.

Day 6 of 3 day method...
Thanks everyone! He's been diaper free since Mon. I let him run naked until Wed and he's been in underwear since Wed night. Today has been a pretty good day- only 1 full accident and 1 where he started to pee, but stopped himself, ran to the bathroom and peed/pooped. I'm going to give it a few more days since I spent this much time already! We'll see how it goes!

He isnt ready. His actions are telling you he isnt ready. 2 is def young. And trying to rush him or force him is only going to frustrate you and make all of this take a lot longer.
I would say leave him alone let him be in diapers and when hes ready you will know.

I totally agree. I did the 3 day with DD and she was fully trained when she was 3 yrs and 4 months. All kids are different, but I think 2 is very young.

Re: Day 6 of 3 day method...
I did the 3 day method when my daughter was 25 months. It took 7 days. I was getting incredibly frustrated and ready to give up. Then on day 7 she had an accident-free day and "got it". Honestly, you've come this far and if he's showing any signs of getting it, I would keep trying. The end result is worth it.

Keep going. If you are only having one or two accidents now hen keep going.
IMO 2 is def not too young and I am also one that doesn't not buy they will do it when they are ready. If I followed that my ds would still have a bottle and be in diapers. He is he kinda kid that needs pushing.

Day 6 of 3 day method...
He showed this morning that he's not ready. After I posted yesterday things went downhill and this morning he had an accident and when I tried to rush him to the bathroom to keep going, he cried and refused. I sat down with him and told him he wasn't ready and he would be going back to diapers. He's been back in diapers since 10am and the house has been a whole lot happier. I finally decided I didn't want to spend my last week of maternity leave miserable and trying to force something. We'll try again when I'm off for the summer or wait until next summer! I'm no longer stressing it! Thanks!

You did the right thing. no need to put the added stress on him or you. He is still very young! Just remember. ..he won't go to Kindergarten in diapers, trust me. it will happen!

He isn't ready. He's still young. My girls are 2.5, ask to sit, hide to poop, ask to be changed, talk about the potty, point to dolls butts and say they are popping but they still aren't ready. They will sit and jump up if they make a drop in the potty and ask for a diaper. They will hold it in half the day because they want a diaper. Revisit in a month or so. They have to want to so it's a smooth transition.

I agree with a lot of the above posters...when they are ready they will go with a minimal amount of intervention.

So true. My DS trained late but, he was pee trained in 2 days (he had one day of accidents and the next day it clicked). He was 3y4m.

Re: Day 6 of 3 day method...
DD turned 3 in January and is still not potty trained. I tried on Friday, she was so excited about wearing big girl underwear and going on the potty. She ended up going once on the potty and 2 accidents. After that she wanted her diapers back on. I am not going to force it, when she's ready it will happen. I will keep offering it and asking her to try and we will see how it goes.

He's very young, especially for a boy, and is showing you that he isn't ready. I wouldn't force it. It will be much easier on both of you when he's ready.
