With today’s huge Hollywood baby boom, sometimes it is easier to get jealous of pregnant starlets, with their designer maternity wear, than to see ourselves as maternity fashionistas. Being a super fashionable mommy-to-be is not as hard as you think. Here are a couple maternity wear mistakes that mommies often make.
Don’t stop being yourself. Just because you are rocking a new, pregnant body doesn’t mean that you should forget your sense of style. If you loved dresses and suites before you became pregnant, search for similar maternity styles! If you loved your jeans and tank tops, don’t feel the need to become a sundress goddess now…Unless you want to! Always be comfortable with your fashion choices and focus on making yourself feel good. When you love what you’re wearing you will glow!
Don’t wait until it’s too late! Don’t wait too long before you invest in some maternity clothing. You will only be making yourself uncomfortable. Many current lines of maternity clothing are super fashionable and diverse; you won’t be giving up your favorites. If you’re worried about people noticing that you are wearing maternity clothing… no one will! And if another mommy-fashionista can tell, it isn’t a bad thing. You’re pregnant and proud!
Don’t buy all of your maternity clothing for the next couple months at once. You never know how your shape and size are going to change, so stocking up now may cost you in the long run. Buy a new item or two as things start to get less comfortable. No one knows: you may barely grow at all and your original purchases may be enough!
Be pregnant and proud: Don’t put yourself in a muumuu! Although the oversized house dress is the most comfortable thing on the face of the planet, it really does nothing for the miracle that is “your pregnant body.” You don’t need to buy skin tight dresses or maternity bikinis (unless you want to, then rock it!), but if you aren’t comfortable in your new skin stick with clothing that at least shows a subtle shape with just a hint of bump.
