Shy? Self-esteem too low to blog? Why should that stop you from being a star?
Now there is podcasting and right now it is the road to small-time stardom. But it has huge potential.
Podcasters make recordings, little radio shows mostly, for their handful of listeners to download and play on their iPods or MP3 players at their own convenience. It's kind of like designer radio; audio you choose. There are selections with interviews about science and technologies; or old songs; theater; or just silliness.
The podcasts with the biggest number of downloads never boast more than 1,000 or so, and so the interest might seem low, but lots of people are banking on interest growing a lot. Right now there are 10 million people out there with iPods and sooner or later some large part of them will download a podcast. A lot of new podcasts are being designed to take up this new market for information and entertainment, but you don't need much money to do it yourself. In fact, you might even find a sponsor for your podcasts.
To learn to podcast, check out podcastalley.com or ipodder.org. If you want to listen, try podcastbunker.com for lists of good podcasts.
