Wondering what to do with your best buds this weekend. How about trying your hand at lady luck with either poker or black jack…and better yet, doing it without traveling too far or spending any money.
It seems that home poker and card parties are quickly becoming all the rage for groups and couples of all ages. Here are just a few tips for hosting a hot “casino” night.
Decide on the general theme including whether you want it to be a “black tie” event (giving you the sense that you’re stepping out for the night) or a casual affair that can even include kids (just not at the “gambling” tables). Then send out the invites with all the specifics and though it’s just as much fun to play with plastic chips, you may decide to break out the cold-hard cash and donate winnings to a favourite and agreed upon charity.
Don’t forget the finger foods. Remember, your cozy Casino Royale is no place to show off your culinary expertise. Think fast, but healthy foods, like cheese and crackers, nutes and dried fruit, deviled eggs or fruits and veggies with dip. And, don’t forget the tea, coffee, bear, and “fine” wine.
Set up different stations/tables and allow guests to switch it up during the night. Besides poker, think black jack, Texas hold-em, or even go-fish if you want to include the kids.
