We all want the best value for our money, yet according to experts, while many of us frequently look for and shop for the best “bargains”, we are notorious for neglecting some simple strategies that may be costing us cash, and all without us even really knowing or noticing.
According to experts, it’s imperative to check store and restaurant receipts to make sure they are accurate, that additional items or gratuities were not added, or the debit and credit cards were not “double dipped”.
But, there are other “hidden costs” associated with everyday business and living that we may overlook. And, those, say experts include, travel, banking, phones, and loans.
Here is what you can do to start seeing things more clearly.
· Connect to The Net and ask other’s for the low down on the company and its rep. This, say experts, is the modern world equivalent of the good, “old-fashioned” word of mouth and the best way to get the inside scoop and the thumbs up or thumbs down.
· Develop an inquiring mind: Even if a fee turns out to be “legit”, if it’s something you don’t recognize or understand, ask about it. Just remember to question and complain diplomatically and effectively. Have all your facts and negotiate in a calm, courteous, and mature manner.
· Learn to “write things off”: If you are not satisfied, be prepared to write a formal complain to your state attorney general as well as to company higher up. Complaints of this caliber usually get immediate attention and immediate action. Even if nothing necessarily changes, you will warrant getting more service and greater respect.
