While we all “joke” about being “independently wealthy” and not needing to work, the truth is, especially now, most of us REALLY “do” need our jobs. But, it’s also a time when for most keeping their job seems like a “risky proposition”. Still, there are ways, according to experts that you can “ensure” being “safe’ rather than being “out”.
· Learn to “love” your job: Even if you don’t love what you do, learn to love that fact that you’re doing “something” that affords you a paycheck and the opportunity to afford life’s necessities, plus. Be a team player and stop complaining, even to coworkers you may be friendly with, even off the job site. Remember, walls have ears and word get around, so keep your opinions and your attitude to yourself, especially if you plan on keeping your job.
· Update your facebook page: Networking sites have become for some all the rage. And, while they “can” help advance your network of friends and potential clientele, they, depending on what you post, can also damage your image. Remember, whether you’re a recent college grad or going to your 10-year college reunion, you are an ADULT and should think twice before posting questionable photos that may hurt your professional image and put your job at risk. Remove an “incriminating” photos and information that you may not want your employer, clients, coworkers, etc. “stumbling” upon including “provocative” photos, or expensive getaways, that may give off the wrong impression.
· Do you job and do it well: Consider helping out a busy coworker if you’ve got some extra downtime, or being extra helpful and useful wherever and whenever you can. Most of all refrain from cutting corners or slacking off but instead looking for opportunities that will ensure your services will continue to be needed.
