Ever wonder where the term “Natural Beauty” came from? Probably from the Garden of Eden where besides being beautiful from the inside out all Eve’s beauty accoutrements were healthy and natural.
And, let’s face it ladies, if we are going to be concerned with what we put in our bodies, we should be equally as concerned about what we put on them.
Remember your skin is sensitive; make-up is generally worn all day long, exposing you to its ingredients for lengthy periods of time, and sometimes leading to “chemical reactions”.
Conventional make-up is replete with additives including artificial colors, dyes, pigments, and preservatives noted for having potentially toxic side effects.
While many mass manufacturers assure us that the levels of “toxicity” are “negligible”, more and more health care professionals are not thoroughly convinced and maintain a reason for concern.
They cite that “traditional” cosmetics are replete with parabens, an anti-fungal agent that may cause irritation. The preservative disodium EDTA, is not known to be especially dangerous, but may exacerbate the toxicity of other ingredients. Furthermore, experts note that some of these elements may be harmful if inhaled while applying spray-ons. Items containing triethanolamine may chafe the skin and form nitrosamine, a carcinogen known causing agent.
Triethanolomine is currently under investigation by the National Cancer Institute due to its universal use in cosmetics and other consumer products, and it’s potentially harmful effects.
