In our family, it seems inevitable. Once someone is wearing something white or freshly washed and ironed, they’re bound to get something on it. And, more often than not, it’s a nasty grease stain. Don’t you just hate it when that happens? Especially since these stains are impossible to remove and for the most part, the clothes are “ruined”.
That is until the experts clued us into their little trade secrets. They recommend saturating the stain with grease removing dish soap and allowing it to settle and seep in. Then, they recommend washing in hot water. For deeper stains, they suggest gently rubbing or blotting with a soft toothbrush. The bristles help break down the stain and can help the stain-removing solutions penetrate deeper into the fabric. However, experts caution against rubbing back and forth as if you’re brushing your teeth. Instead they suggest holding the toothbrush with your index finger positioned just behind the head and using short, light taps.
