So, you want to look “hot” for your wedding, your honeymoon and for your man (or woman) and you make getting a little “color” one of your top priorities.
According to experts it’s not always better to look good than feel good and they note that UV rays may in fact be contributing to doubling the risk of skin cancer in those under 35, and leading to one of the three major types of skin caner, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanona.
And they add, that research has NOT proven that tanning salons are any safer than natural-light tanning in reducing skin cancer risk.
As per the American Cancer Society, not only does the risk of melanoma double for adults 35 and younger, who are frequently exposed to UV lights, but also the risk tends to increase with each additional use of tanning lights.
They note that burning can be just as prevalent in a tanning bed as it is on the beach and suggest that there is no evidence that tanning salons prevent burning when a person is exposed to sunlight, especially lighter and fairer skinned individuals who are more prone to burning in general.
In fact, experts note that the ONLY way to prevent sunburn and damage is by limiting the time you spend in the sun and using sun block and protective gear such as hats and sunglasses regularly.
