Just as we ring in the New Year and prepare to take down the holiday décor, we can also look forward to giving our nests and our lives a new look for the New Year. But before making the investment, we may want to invest some time in finding out what’s hot and what’s not.
Here’s a bit of what we can expect to see in the mix for 2006.
Haute Home Fashions:
Bigger apparently isn’t always better, especially when it comes to home décor. In fact, industry experts suggest that large columns, oversized, bulky, provincial furniture may be quickly becoming outdated and definitely on its way OUT. Subtle sophistication will be all the rage for the next year with a focus on a welcoming home embellished for anti-depressive living and with eclecticism being the key.
Designers also suggest that making a home luxuriously “livable” will be the next “hot”, “haute’ trend. Homes will cater to each couple’s/family’s particular needs and lifestyle (as well as some of their wants) with a casual comfort that doesn’t make it seem that they are trying to hard.
T aste Sensations:
While some of our tastes (in style) may change, food aficionados say they are also seeing a change in the way we think about food and the way we eat.
To keep our middles fit and trim and our insides healthy many of us are opting for Middle Eastern Cuisine…with fresh, down to earth choices topping the menu.
Culinary experts say more and more people will be concerned with what they are putting in their bodies and on their plate….and that means lots more exotic variety including cuisine with Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and Latin influences.
They also suggest the many of us will indulge in more healthful (yet hearty) meals featuring whole grains, legumes, and exotic ingredients and spices such as lemongrass, curry, chili, etc. Plus, they add, more and more individuals will dine on organics both at home and in restaurants, plus, they’ll begin to appreciate foods such as spinach or whole-wheat pastas, breads, etc., which are more healthful versions of our familiar favorites. They even go as far as cautioning people (those who want to hang on to their “favorites” just because they taste good) to forego the fast food and steer clear of foods in boxes, cans, jars, bottles, etc.
A Trend In Hue-Manity:
Trend experts suggest that homeowners will look to lively opulent shades such as combinations of oranges and reds to brighten up their living space, especially as a means to give neutrals (which will prevail in popularity) a little lift. They suggest that these home hues are taking their cue from the appliance industry that has been making a few bold (and bright) statements (in the market) for quite a few years. And they add, that bright solids such as turquoise and hot pink won’t be so hot for the next year or two.
And, as far as 2007 is concerned, experts envision a greater focus on health and well-being, and a more toned down allure of whitewashed brights and distinctive neutrals
