Rabbit season, duck season, but actually more like house-hunting season for many. But, once you find the abode you love and can afford, its imperative to get your home inspected before signing on the dotted line.
Inspections are conducted by professionals who are trained in identifying and detecting any potential problems that could be dangerous or costly somewhere in the not so distant future. And, experts assert that they are essential in making sure the home you are interested in is safe and sound and that you get the most out of your investment.
· Secure a professional that’s professional and that understands your needs and your feelings.
· Put together a loose-leaf binder and section it off by assigning each section a specific structural element of the house, enabling you to refer easily to that section and take necessary and important notes. Diving the folder in sections will also allow you to keep the information neat and organized after the inspection and for future reference.
· Construct a list of questions prior to the inspection, and make sure to bring them to your inspector’s attention and that you are satisfied with the answer(s). And, don’t forget to file your list in the appropriate section of your folder.
· Invest in some easily identifiable or brightly colored tags and ask the inspector to use them to mark the main water valve, the hot water valve, the outside water valve, and any other important structures that you need to easily distinguish and identify.
· Besides you and your mate, leave the posse of friends and family at their own homes. Remember YOU (both) need to focus on your home and making the decision YOU are comfortable with and that best for you.
