Most of us are at least initially good about sticking to a plan that will help up shed those extra pounds and get into good, if not great shape. In fact, more and more of us, according to statistics are eating better and healthier, and we’re fitting in more exercise. And, from low-fat organic meals to hiring a personal trainer our weight loss mission seems to be on the right track. Well, except for one thing, which most experts agree most of us are still doing “wrong”.
We are not drinking enough water. And, water, just like exercise is essential for help us drop those extra pounds.
That’s right, with our bodies being over 70% water, experts note that we need water to properly sustain it and keep it functioning. In fact, we can live longer without food that we can without water.
What that tells us is that our body need at least 8 to 10 glasses of water per day to keep it functioning properly and efficiently and to make sure our body parts are able to do their job and do it right, including helping it get rid of harmful toxins and prepare the body for getting rid of (un-necessary) fat.
Without enough water, you body is missing a key component in doing what it’s meant to do and that means that your body then tends to hold on you whatever water you do have and is available, and that often means depriving muscles (which weigh more than fat but also burn more calories than fat) of their essential element (muscles are made up of 70% water too) and they begin losing mass looking tired instead of toned.
If however, your body get all the water it needs, it will rid itself of the excess fluid it “doesn’t” need, and you’ll see less bloating and more “toning” as you begin to also shed body fat.
In addition, as you eliminate water, your body starts shedding weight as well, around 4 or 5 pounds in the first week. This is typically water weight and shedding it help your body optimize its functionality so you continue losing weight (even if its at a slower pace) as your body gets better and better at burning stored body fat for energy.
And, for better results add a few ice cubes. That’s right your body needs energy to heat up the ice cold water and drinking about a gallon and a half daily can help you burn another 50 to 100 calories (each day), and that means shedding and extra pound of fat each month or 12 extra pounds per year.
