But, if its your health and the health of your family you’re concerned about, you may want to rethink your recipe strategy.
According to recent research and expert insight the resin can linings contain BPA (bisphenol-A), a manufactured estrogen often associated with reproductive issues, heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. In addition, because many of the foods stored in can have a fairly high acid content, they cause this “toxic” material to slowly release into your food. And, studies show that most BPA levels in people’s body’s are much greater than amount noted as resulting in the suppression of sperm production and in damaging chromosomes in animal eggs.
According to experts, you are exposed to 50 mcg of BPA per liter from canned tomatoes alone, a level that “will” impact your health. Instead they suggest packaged goods that come in cardboard containers, or better yet, in glass bottles.
