The vet just called me back.
The test came back. He mentioned a presence of spindle cells, something about neoplasm, and sarcoma. I kind of blanked.
I have to take him a Veterinary Specialist on Thursday.
Please keep my sweet dog in your prayers.

So, they admitted my Shawnee today for surgery. We'll either get him back on Saturday or on Monday. They say it's cancer but they won't how bad until after the surgery. I just want him to get through the surgery.

Hey ladies,
A while ago, I posted about my Mom's dog, Chewie, and how he needed some prayers. You guys came through then, and I'm hoping that you can work your magic again.
I've had my dog, Shawnee, since he was 8 weeks old. He just turned 10 years. Recently, I've noticed a bulge in his throat. At first, I was not concerned, I figured that as he had aged, his skin had lost some elasticity and it was no big deal. A few weeks ago, I felt a lump, so yesterday I took him to the vet. As soon as he felt it, he told me it concerned him. He said it could be anything (cancer, lymphnode, fatty deposit), and he asked if Shawnee had experienced any problems eating, drinking or swallowing - he has not. They took a few x-rays, took some blood and, for lack of a better word, needle biopsied (sp?) the lump (he said there is more than one - he took a sample from the largest). I won't know the results until tomorrow.
There have been two great loves in my life. My husband, and my dog. Before there was Kevin, there was Shawnee. I've had him since I was 21 - which is such a pivotal time in a person's life. We've been through quite a bit together and I'm just not ready to say good bye to him. Please keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer that we get some good news tomorrow.
