has anyone's dog ever had a UTI or bladder stones?

a couple weeks ago dh, myself, and sophie went to florida to visit my in-laws. the second day we were there i noticed that sophie's urine was tinged with blood - not the initial first puddle, but the drops she squeezed out later on the walk (sorry if TMI). we took her to the vet that day, who said that she most likely had a UTI and prescribed 2 weeks worth of antibiotics. she finished those yesterday, but is still having bloody drops now and then.

i should also say, she looks completely fine. eating, drinking, and behaving completely normally. also urinating a normal amount, it's just the color that's different. now i'm worried that's she's got stones or some other persistent problem.

anyone's dog ever have this? did the dog need surgery? i am starting to get worried

Hi, I hope little sophie is okay. My Copper had Chrinic UTI's and he had bladder stones, which did need to be surgically removed. He was then put on a special diet, and had to have his urine monitored constantly. The Stones did not come back, but he always fought with UTI's, poor little man.

I am sure he was an extreme case, there is dietary correction you can do to help your baby, just look at all your options.

thanks so much for replying! by any chance do you remember what the diet was?. i am going to call the vet and have her see sophie; hopefully it's not too late for the dietary intervention. i would hate to see her have surgery

My dog had bladder stones. We noticed he had a problem when he tried to urinate and only drops would come out. The stones ended up going into his urethra but, they would not pass through. Unfortunately, we had no choice but to go ahead with surgery. We had no alternative b/c at one point he was no longer urinating due to the stones blocking his urethra. He is fine now but it was by far the worst week for him and us. I wish all the best for your little one and hope she recovers quickly.

my dog had a bladder infection he would be peeing alot. I took him to the vet that is what he had.
The gave me meds for him and it went away.
