Greetings!

So after viewing everyone loosing weight I decided to start my own weight reduction program. Since Liz and I got married I put on 25-30lbs (so did she but i'm not going to tell herChat Icon). For the last week I have started the day with a one hour cardio workout. Breakfast is a fruit smoothie (usually mango and pineapple), lunch I have a can of Trader Joes organic vegetarian soup and dinner is either baked fish or chicken (breast with no skin) with brown rice (fresh lemon juice on the rice) and a veggy. I drink only water and snacks are organic carrots and celery. I have already lost 10lbs! I am getting board of my dinner choice. Any other suggestions?

If you are in a rush you could always do a Lean cuisine dinner .
Sometimes I make a BIG salad I use already bagged Dole salas and add tomatoes, onions, cucumbers tuna and reduced fat hellmans mayo(it tastes like real mayo and has 25 calories 2.5gm fat) I add peas sometimes too
its really good

Are you interested in doing races? I do at least 1 race a month with a friend and it keeps us motivated to keep exercising and eating well (we do cheat with food sometimes, but we work hard).

Ahhhh honesty! Chat Icon

Thank you for the invite. I would love to but I can not run. I messed up my knees in school (football, lacrosse and track). I have to keep it to non impact! Chat Icon

Anymore dinner suggestions? Many are looking at the post but not coming up with the goods! I need help please! Actually Liz needs the help - she cooks dinner! Chat Icon

Thanks!

There is an awesome book called 1000 Low-Fat Recipes by Terry Blonder Golson. It has lots of good ideas for every meal.

If you want to be adventurous and try making pizza from scratch, you could make whole wheat pizza and have that with a salad. Pizza dough is easy to make without using too much oil.

Also, what about steak? There are a few different cuts that are lean (sirloin is one, I think). I love a small steak with a salad for dinner.

Re: Greetings!

There are lower breading chicken cutlets that we eat sometimes.

We also make our own whole wheat pizza dough, which is quite yummy if I do say so myself. Chat Icon

Sirloin burgers, ground turkey, turkey sausage is yummy too.

Good Luck on your weight loss!

Ron, I have a few of the weight watchers cookbooks, which seem to be pretty low calorie, as cookbooks go. But I also have some Cooking light cookbooks and everything I have made from those has been delicious. They are a bit higher in calories, but taste a lot better.

Re: Greetings!

Do you eat pork? There are a ton of things you can do with it - like a pork stir fry - chopped up pork with stir-fry veggies, brown rice, and sauce.

How about chicken burgers? (made with ground chicken).

Poached salmon.

Grilled swordfish (I had grilled swordfish kebabs the other night - yum!)

Meatloaf made with ground turkey or chicken. Throw some salsa and chopped cilantro on top for added flavor.

Salad with grilled chicken sliced on top.

Thank you for all your suggestions. For right now I am staying away from all bread products.

This struck me as something I want for tonight's dinner

Thanks! Can't wait. A friend just dropped off vine ripened cherry tomatoes. They will go great on the kebob! Chat Icon

I'll check when I get home. Are you staying away from carbs, or just bread & pasta?

Here's the recipe: Swordfish kebab

Of course you'd leave at all that butter in the sauce Chat Icon
Maybe you could substitute with butter buds.

Thank you Thank you Thank you

Well I modified the recipe a bit but it was fantastic! Gracias!!!

I used vine ripened tomatoes, red peppers, onions and zucchini and the swordfish.

For the marinade
Soy Sauce, fresh ginger, fresh garlic, fresh basil and just a little organic maple syrup (this is where i cheated i haven't been using any sugar).

I cooked them on the BBQ with mesquite wood chips for flavor.

Want to know how it tasted?
It was to die for!!!

Thank you again for the idea.

I drink lots of water! Yes this is very important even when you are not trying to loose weight. I drink about one gallon/day.

Don't be jealous. I have been going a bit over board in trying to loose the extra weight fast. I have always had a fast metabolism. It slowed down when I stopped exercising. Once I started exercising again my metabolism woke up. On top of that I have drastically changed my eating habits.

Re: Greetings!

You are doing so well! You should explore Trader Joes frozen section. They have great stir fry's you can try for dinner. Very low in fat! Infact that whole store has been helpful to me. Keep up the good work!Chat Icon
