Those that were induced
How soon after you were late did they induce you? Did things progress right away once you were induced? Also, did you end up havng a C-section and if so why? I read that when you are induced your chances of having a c-section are increased!

Re: Those that were induced
My son was exactly 7 days late. On my Dr visit I was a fingertip dialeted so she said she wanted to induce me. I was sent to the hospital on Monday night and given a dose of cervidil. I had contractions every 12 minutes, in the morning I had only gotten to 3 cm so piticion was put into my IV, after about 16 hours I was dialetd to 4, my Dr said she couldnt let me go on laboring because my water had broken and with the rate my baby was moving down I could have been in labor for another 24 hours. We all (Me, DH & Dr) opted for a C-section after 17.5 hours.
C-sections, although major surgery, arent as bad as a lot of people think. I did feel a little sad not being able to have a reg birth, but I did experience labor and I did feel my baby pop out and he was healthy, thats all that matters.

Re: Those that were induced
I was induced 4 days after my due date to to low fluids. I went to see my doctor for a scheduled visit on August 9th, he determined that my fluid was low and told me that he wanted to begin induction THAT NIGHT!! I was in a bit of shock and all, but followed his instructions to go home and rest/shower/and eat and then to show up at the hospital later on. I arrived at the hospital around 9:30ish that evening, and they started me on cervdil (sp) around 11:00 P.M. By early the next morning I was 2cm and like 50% effaced, my doctor came by for a visit and by the time he left I was without my mucus plug. Since I had made progress they did not opt to give me more cervdil but to move on to pitocin at 11 AM. I started to really feel contractions one on top of the other by 3 PM, and then asked for an epidural. THey warned me that it could either slow down my labor or keep it moving along since it would relax me more. My 4:30 I was 4 cm, by 7 I was 6cm (water broke during this exam by a resident doctor--I along with my nurse mentioned to her that we thought my water broke earlier, she checked to confirm and popped it--I didn't feel anything, just heard an actual pop!)and by 8 when my doctor came to see me again I was 8cm!! He told me that he would be back in 2 hours when I would probably be ready to deliver, but an hour later I was ready and my darling baby boy was born via natural birth at 9:32PM on August 1oth after pushing for only 20 minutes. I too was scared of being forced to deliver via c-section because I was being induced, but everything went so well and so quickly.
Also, I had 2 other friends deliver within 2 weeks of me--both induced and both had natual births!
Best of luck!!

Re: Those that were induced
Logan was 9 days late, I was induced b/c my water was too low. They once my due date came, they started doing non-stress test every two days. My water was only 1.2 and a normal level is 7. They induced me on a monday and I gave birth on wednesday. I didnt have to have a c-section. It depends on A LOT of factors. a girl who was induced the same time I was gave birth 6 hours later!
ETA - mt water did not break on its own... the dr. broke it.

Re: Those that were induced
I was induced a week early, due to cholestasis. I was given a dose of cervidil at 6:30 AM. At that point I was only dialated 1cm. I started having irregular contractions. Around 10 AM, I had dialated enough for the doctor to break my water. The contractions started getting stronger, but were still irregular. Around 11 AM, I hadn't dialated any further, so I was given pitocin (sp?) in an IV and they were to increase the dosage every 30 mins. My contractions were getting stronger and closer together, but I still wasn't dialating any more. By 12:30, the contractions were right on top of eachother. It got to the point where I wasn't getting any breaks and didn't have a moment to catch my breath. I wasn't getting enough oxygen and it lead to the baby not getting enough oxygen. They tried reducing the dosage of pitocin and tried giving my an oxygen mask, but it didn't help. Plus, I still hadn't dialated any further. My doctor decided it would be safer if we went with the C-section. If the contractions hadn't been on top of eachother like that, I would've tried to tough it out, but it was so hard when I couldn't even breathe.
