Speaking of bed rest....

For all you PG IVF'ers...did you do bedrest or not? And for how many days?

Re: Speaking of bed rest....

I've done both and we all know the results

I've known pg IVF'ers that have done both too

I really don't think it matters

Do what you feel comfortable with...

Re: Speaking of bed rest....

I semi rested.

My Transfer was on a Friday. Most of Friday I spent in bed. Saturday Same thing, but I came online and even cooked...

Sunday I just laid around.

I think like Lisa said. On the day OF the transfer, I most definatly would do as much bed rest as possible...after that, studies are not conclusive and I didnt really do too much , but rested as much as I could.

Re: Speaking of bed rest....

The 1st IVF, I didn't rest and got pregnant and then lost the baby. This time, I thought, why not rest! It is cold out and what a better excuse to have DH wait on me!

Also, this time I did over stim and had a rough week after the retrevial, so I was just being cautious!

Re: Speaking of bed rest....

I did "couch rest" for two days after the transfer.

I know some people say no stairs, no getting up, etc., but that just wasn't realistic for me.

I pretty much sat on the couch all day after transfer and for the next two days.

I was home alone so I would get up to let the dog out, cook myself something (or eat the stupid pineapple core) and use the bathroom (up one flight of stairs).

Re: Speaking of bed rest....

i didn't really do bedrest, but i tried to take it easy.

my first transfer was on a friday, i just kinda hung around all weekend. my second transfer was on a saturday and again, i just kinda took it easy. no laying in bed, with feet elevated or anything like that.

both times i went back to work on monday and just tried not to bend and lift too much.

i think if anything, the second time, i was less cautious about things, because the first time i tried to do everything right and it didn't work, so i thought, i really don't have that much control over this anyway. (don't get me wrong, i'm not advocating not following doctor's orders, or being careless!)

i know you go to li-ivf and dr. brenner did not recommend bedrest. he didn't feel it was necessary.

Re: Speaking of bed rest....

Sept. 10 -- I can tell you my schedule for the whole week!!

I went out to eat after the transfer - I was starving!! Then we drove home from Manhattan, and I spent most of the day lying around. That was Sunday. Monday I went to work but you know that is just in my basement. I also went for acupuncture.

I didn't take Ebony (Chat Icon ) to the park for a few days, or even walk him really, but other than that, I lived my normal life from the day after onwards. Of course, I am not a gym rat or anything like that so "normal " for me would be -- hmm - work, and watching some TV!! LOL!!

Tuesday after transfer I went to the chirporactor, and got a massage. That Thursday I went to the LIF IF GTG! Friday I went to the chiropractor again, Saturday went to the Santana concert at night and danced my bootie off (well, I wish I had danced it off, it is so huge now!!), and Sunday (1 week after transfer) I went to the Italian Festival at Hofstra, the Bellmore Street Fair, and walked on the Boardwalk at Jones Beach. Monday I had my first Beta.

I think I wanted to keep busy to make time fly - I am exhausted just looking back!!

I pretty much always bed rested, it was a great excuse for me. You know my oucomes. Of course- even trying to bed rest I still had Ryan to contend with and I never missed a day of LIF so I would say I was still up and down.

Not sure it was exactly the type of bedrest my MD would prefer. The nurse said to me if it was up to Dr. Scholl you would be flat on your back for two days.Chat Icon

I didn't do bedrest. I went to work the following day. I just didn't do any lifting or bending. The Dr. said the walls of the uterus were like two slices of bread with peanut butter stuck together. The embyros were tucked carefully in between, and there was no way they could fall out.
