Is anyone here a school cousnelor or "guidance" couselor? If so where did you get your degree? How long did it take you to find a job?

Re: School Counselors??

I am a College Cousnelor.
I do have my degree in School COunseling...but I am more interested in higher education. My plan is to do Career Development Counseling. Chat Icon

I did my program at CW Post. It took me 3 years because I worked full-time as a college counselor while I was doing it. Its really hard to do that because they are alot of hours.

Good Luck. FM me if you have questions about the Post program. It was ok. Not the best School Counseling program out there. JMO. Chat Icon

Re: School Counselors??

I was in a higher ed focused counseling program, and shared many classes with the school counseling folks at St. John's.
The job market is tough right now for guidance counselors. If you are flexible, and would consider working at a college, I'd recommend going that route.
