Knitters - recommend a stitch book

Hello Knitters...

I have not knit in such a long time. I just want a GOOD stitch book that shows details instructions on each different stitch.

I don't need a pattern book.

Any recommendations?

I like Barbara Walker's books - Treasury of Knitting Patterns. They are stitch patterns, not garment patterns. Good photos and the directions are written, not charted.

Lesley Stanfield - The New Knitting Stitch Library is another good one if you're comfortable with charted directions. It has good explainations on reading the charts, and you could always translate to written directions if you prefer.

Barbara Walker's books are classics and should be available. Not so sure about the Lesley Stanfield book. It was published in 1992 - I've had it for years.

i believe vogue has some great stick books.

i always use the internet (cant find the link i use with pictures, it is on my other hard drive and i dont have it with me and i wont for another month) or go back to my knitting for idiots book b/c i taught myself.

i can't think of the names of the books i have at home. they're already packed for the move.

i would suggest that you see what's online. you'd be suprised the free info out there.

I really like Stitch N B-itch by Debbie Stoller. There are a lot of updated things to knit and her instructions are very clear. My only complaint is that the one I have does not have color pictures through out, but I believe there is another knitting book by her that does have the color pictures. I also absolutely loved her book about crocheting called The Happy Hooker.
