I just finished "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton - interesting book (work of fiction but with footnotes to scientific articles) involving global warming (including whether it is really happening  )
I am a big fan of any of Nelson DeMille's books as well as David Baldacci - I especially liked Camel Club and The Collectors
If you want something a little more on the "chick lit" side, Jennifer Weiner's books are pretty good.

Emily Giffin is great. The last 3 books I read are:
Reading: No Strings Attached by Millie Criswell
Christmas Letters by Debbie Macomber
Crystal Clear by Jane Heller
What type of books do you like?I can give you other recommendations.
