Ciao Baby! or Grand Luxe? or a recommendation for Mexican or Italian??

Anybody ever go to this restaurant? It's on Voice road in the plaza next to Big Lots.

Just wondering if DH should take me there for my birthday next month. Chat Icon

Re: Ciao Baby!

I know it's a very popular restaurant and I've heard many people rave about it but we went to the one in Massapequa last week and did not have a good experience.

Maybe it was an off-night in the kitchen, but most likely we will not be going back.

Re: Ciao Baby!

I actually never had a problem at Ciao Baby. The food and service has always been good.

With that said....Grand Luxe....

The food is good....the wait can be a little unbearable at times. Yummy dessert and drinks too.

Grand Luxe-Yes, and I think Cheescake is better since it is an affliate.

Didnt impress me.

Caio Baby- Service is ok...gets too crowded and really noisy. They are known for their appetizers...thats about it.

Re: Ciao Baby! or Grand Luxe?

Never been to Ciao Baby - but I have been to the Grand Luxe. IMO - soooo not worth it. The wait was insane and the food was just "eh" at best. I would much rather go to the Cheesecake Factory. I realize that they are owned by the same company, but I was not impressed at all with Grand Luxe.

YEah...I LOVE Cheesecake, but go there all the time. Just looking for something different. Either Mexican or Italian.

are you looking for that area?

If so Baci's on Merrick and Old Country Rd is good.

I have others but not in that area.

Re: Ciao Baby! or Grand Luxe? or a recommendation for Mexican or Italian??

cafe formaggio on old country rd next across from buybuy baby is excellant... we went there a few weeks ago...

also surprising... we went out last sat night with 4 people to papprazzi on the corner of jericho & glen cove rd... fabulaous.... we were seated right away when we got there at 7:45 pm on a SAT Night... the food was excellant... they dont rush you there so it was a nice dinner... we had apps, lots of wine, dinner, dessert and after dinner drinks and it was $110/couple with tax & tip... it was really nice atmosphere too!!

Re: Ciao Baby! or Grand Luxe? or a recommendation for Mexican or Italian??

I think Ciao Baby is disgusting -
I went once, and you couldn't drag me back there ! -

If you're looking for good Mexican, try La Panchita - there's one in the shopping center directly across from Tri County Flea Market (on Hempstead Tpke in Levittown) it looks like a hole in the wall, but it's really good !

Wow girls...thanks so much for the great info.

OK....based on your reviews, I have narrowed the choices down to Baci's (which I have been to several times and love, just forgot about) and Butera's (which I've never been to, but you all seem to love it so why not).

Thanks soooooooo much!!! Chat Icon

some of my friends went to the Ciao Baby in Carle Place and they said the portions were huge, but the place was very very noisy, and the food was not good.
