Let the painting BEGIN!!!
I am so excited! Craig and I went out this weekend and finalized our paint colors for the house!! We decided to go with Benjamin Moore paints, but we are keeping one Behr color for the kitchen because I didn't want to change that. We originally switched from Behr since BM has those cool paint samples - for 5 bucks a pop you get enough paint to paint a 4 x 4 sample of the color to see what it looks like in your home with your lighting, etc. GREAT we thought! Picked out all the colors we wanted, went to their website color designer and everything, only to get to the store and learn that samples are only available for 200 out of 3000! And guess what colors we didn't pick? Yeah, not a single sample was available in the colors we wanted! DOH! Regardless, we got the paint chip samples instead and I'm really just so excited to get crackin on the paint now! We decided that we wanted to do the living room a different color from the original beige we picked, and we're going with Pottery Red, a really nice muted burgundy color instead. The beige would have been too bland, as all our furniture and rugs are shades of tan and beige. Our rugs have bits of burgundy in it though, and I think by pulling this color for the walls it's really going to give the room such a warm look! Our LR is very open and only has a few feet of actual wall space since we have a huge hallway opening, fireplace and windows and one wall covered with mirrors. Also, the trim amd mantle of our fireplace is cherrywood, and the red we picked is going to look beautiful with the walls as a complimentary color. Hooray! I wish I could post a link to the colors, they are so beautiful! Anyhoo, here's the rest of the colors we picked - priming and prep work starts on SATURDAY! I'll have to take some before shots this weekend so I can post the before and after shots I love this stuff, I swear!
Doors/Ceiling - Opaline Trim - Navajo White Living Room - Pottery Red Hallway - Cappuccino Bathroom - Appalcahian Spring Bedroom - Normandy Kitchen (Behr) - Desert Pose

Re: Let the painting BEGIN!!!
We're doing it ourselves, we just don't have the money to have someone else do it, and our house isn't that big anyway, so we can manage it. I've painted twice before when I lived at home, and once when my sis got her first apartment, so this will be the first painting I've done in my OWN home Pics to come!!!!

Have fun!
We used pottery red in our Computer Room, its a great color, not too red!
oh GOOD!! I'm so glad to hear feedback on this color, thanks so much! From what I saw on the sample, it's seemed like a very warm red color, muted and not too loud. But when I told my sister we chose a red for the LR she was like "oh be careful it doesn't make the room look smaller.." She's an art teacher too, so I should have known better to confront her about colors I guess! Thanks for letting me know about this color - you wouldn't happen to have a pic of your room, would you?

Re: Let the painting BEGIN!!!
Thanks Kelly! I thought it was a really nice neutral red color too. I am seriously SO excited about finally getting some color up on our walls! It's funny, few of my friends came over this weekend and when I showed them the little color sampler I made, my one friend was like "Look at you, getting all Trading Spaces on us!"
