warning signs

I am not ready to start TTC just yet, but I have a feeling deep down that I am not going to be able to. I just wanted to knwo if any of you had any warning signs, maybe ones that you picked up on after having some trouble? and if you wouldn't mind sharing. Even though I am not ready now, this scares me to death.

Re: warning signs

I think 99% of all women go through this, especially if they were on birth control for a long time. It would probably be more positive for you to ask this question on the TTC or pregnancy board rather then IF! To see how common it is.
Just because someone is on this board doesn't mean they are "not going to be able to" and I hope that isn't the case for you either!
I suggest you discuss your concerns with your OBGyn.

Re: warning signs

Honestly it's kind of funny because way before I met DH I had a feeling that it would be hard for me to have kids. Ironically, DH is technically the one with the IF issue but I just knew it would be easy. Then again...everything I've ever really wanted has been hard for me to get/achieve Chat Icon I guess what doesn't kill you makes you strongerChat Icon

Re: warning signs

I've always had an idea that it was going to be a problem as I have extremely irregular cycles. I have since learned that I have other problems as well, but they are unrelated to my cycles.

BTW, as far as people reading your post and not responding - there are a ton of lurkers on this board.Chat Icon

Re: warning signs

I hadn't had a clue.

Although, I should have realized from my very heavy periods that it may have been a sign of endometriosis.

Re: warning signs

I knew I'd have a problem due to my cycles, and I really just had a feeling...even ask my SIL Chat Icon I remember talking to her about it once, before we were TTC and I told her that I thought I was going to have a problem.

Re: warning signs

I always knew something was "wrong" My cycles were nuts from the beginning and throughout my younger years, I never once had a pregnancy scare!

Re: warning signs

For me it was the complete opposite...I always knew I was very fertile (docs confirmed it before we were TTC), have perfect 28 days cycles with O on day 14th and always thought I will have no problems getting pregnant

but I was wrong..the problem is not me but my DH and we are dealing with severe male factor which as you know has no warning signs....

so to answer your question, there were no warning signs for us....

good luck!

Re: warning signs

I have always known I was going to have issues. Everyone said I was crazy since I have regular cycles but somehow I just new. Well I was right I have clotting and auto-immune issues along with pcos. I don't know how I knew I just did but I am on meds and being closely monitored. The doctors think I will be able to conceive and carry to term but it did take 1.5 years of testing to get to this point. I would discuss your fears with your gyn and explain to him/her why you think you are going to have issues. Good luck when you start.

Same with me but my issue is recurrent m/c. My cycle was always normal. The only "strange" thing is that I got my period somewhat "late" like when I was 14 or 15.

Re: warning signs

There are people here with so many different diagnoses that I don't think there is a common symptom or anything like that. Some are still seeking the reason that it has been difficult for them.

I have one friend who completely convinced herself that she was going to have difficulty and she was so far off on that. She went off BC for her honeymoon got pregnant, had the baby, then had another 1 yr later. Thankfully, she has remained very supportive of friends who have had difficulty (or else I'd have shot her by now Chat Icon ).
