My first event for this company, what should I wear?
Hi all,
I just recently started a new job working for a nonprofit that supports formerly homeless men, provides them with housing, education and helped them get jobs. (truly amazing)
Anyway, each year the org holds a graduation for those individuals who have achieved sobriety, full time jobs, and independent housing.
I am the director of special events, so this 1000 person celebration is my baby. The mayor will be there among other vips.
My question (FINALLY)
Can I wear a black wrap dress or do I really need to wear a suit? Its not a business thing as much as a very important event. I thought the long sleeved wrap would look nicer but want to confirm it is not inappropriate (I will wear a shell underneath so boobies will not be seen)

What do you think looks more formal?
I say go with the dress. It's dressier and since this is such a special event, I think it's more appropriate.
Kudos on the event Nancy!!! I know you've worked really hard!

I would wear a black or navy dress with a jacket.

Great work that you and the Doe Fund do!! I actually learned about them when I was living on the UES. I always saw the men in blue wearing their "ready, willing, and able" shirts, so I researched the organization and learned more about them. But to get back to your questions, I think a black wrap dress is perfect acceptable!
