Repost from PG - please dont move to recipes
I was wondering if anyone knows if smoked salmon is in fact cooked? It says on wikipedia that cold smoked salmon is not. I really want a Philadelphia roll and I am not sure if the salmon is cooked or not but I know it is smoked.
Thanks!

Nope - the salmon in a philly roll is not cooked.
I ate a couple of pieces while PG. Just make sure you are getting the sushi from an immaculate place.
I don't recommend scarfing down tons of sushi while PG but if you are truly craving a philly roll - I say go for it (though many would disagree with me). It's up to you.
What do you think pregnant Japanese women eat?

its cured, which maybe different than actually cooked.
Why dont you call your doctor and ask them if you can eat smoked salmon??

why not just try a cream cheese and cucumber roll. It's the same thing without the salmon. It may just be enough. If not...then I'd call and ask the DR. I wouldn't just eat it though without an ok from OB, JMO

I found this from the CDC. It recommends for pregnant women to not eat refrigerated smoked seafood/salmon. http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dbmd/diseaseinfo/listeriosis_g.htm
