How to buy a corned beef?
I want to make a nice dinner for St. Paddy's Day but I never know when I go into the store what I'm looking for in a corned beef, other than little fat.
Can anybody help me with the different types of cuts, and what to look for?
TIA.

I buy the brisket, not the round. Other than that, I don't really know what specfically to look for, other than that it isn't too fatty.

I buy bristket also. And I always buy flat cut instead of point cut, but I have no idea what the difference is.

We get the thin cut. It is a little more expensive, but less fatty.

The thin cut is much leaner but of course still has fat. I like freirich corn beef best. They always seem to have the best selection.

I may be too late but, they shrink A LOT, so get a larger piece then you think you will need.
