Removing Endo...
Who should be doing it? My OB/GYN or a different specialist. My OB/GYN is the only doctor I'm seeing. Of course I want someone who's good. Any ideas? Thanks!

Ob/gyn's do laprascopic surgery....to remove endo. Make sure you do go to a good one.

Ask her about her experience with doing a lap.....and if she feels she doesn't have much, and you 'love' her, I am sure she will, recommend someone who will do a great job. It all depends on how much endo you have, and how much they can remove. If you have ovarian cysts, ask her about drilling.

Well ovarian drilling is used for women who have pcos. (polycystic ovarian syndrome). Since your cysts are enlarged,....you may not have pcos but inquire with your doctor. Pcos is when the follicules don't rupture (ovulate) and then form tiny little cysts in the ovaries and look like pearls. Some women who haven't ovulated in quite some time, opt to have ovarian drilling due to the increased levels of testosterone and luteinizing hormone. They are often women who don't react to the assistance of clomid. Basically, a laser punctures the cysts and fluid is released during the lap. Once again, because you have enlarged cysts, I would think, that you probably don't have pcos. Your doctor can test for it though.

My best friends' Ob/Gyn is also a surgeon...Dr Eliot Birnbaum in Smithtown.
HE did her surgery and she has followed him from practice to his own practice. He's an awesome dr!

I was diagnosed with endometriosis this past January and had the lap procedure to remove it .. mine was not extensive, just covering one ovary, and I felt so much better after the procedure. I was having extreme pain during my periods and then it was extending throughout the month, to the point where I was in pain ALL the time .. so when I finally was diagnosed it was actually a relief.
My OB/GYN actually referred me to an RE who did the Lap, he was highly recommended and did a great job, but I didnt like his bedside manner very much, so I would not recommend him , nor go back to him
I was told that perhaps the reason I was not getting PG was due to the endo (we had been TTC for about 6 months before I was diagnosed).. and sure enough 6 months after having the endo removed I did get PG.. so I guess it did help! (i did just M/C but one thing had nothing to do with the other...)
I now have to watch to see if the endo will return , praying it does not.. but the next few months will tell the tale
