A Million Little Pieces

Started reading, it was Oprah's Book Club pick last week. Very good, about one man's rehab journey after being an alcoholic and crack addict by age 23. Might be hard for some to read if you have someone in your family affected by this. His style of writing is basically freestyle so some may not like it. But the story is great!

I know people who've raved about James Frey. I may pick it up at some point, but it sounds like a harrowing story.

Re: A Million Little Pieces

I read this book not too long ago. I think it is an incredibly personal story of a man's fight with addiction and I think that it shows how destructive addiction can be, better than any other book I have ever read. I was VERY interested in the story, but it is an emotional one and because of that, sometimes difficult to read. I am glad I stuck with it, though, because I was really interested to see how things worked out for the author and I gained a lot of insight into what addiction can do to people.

I read this book in one day. I really liked it. I felt so bad for him and all of those people. It really gives you an in sight as to how destructive drugs can be.

So I am reading it now, I don't know if I am digging it. I am trying, but it is so repetitive. If it wasn't a true story I probably would not continue. I was reading the root canal part last night.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Stick with it Janice, I think it picks up a bit after that - once he makes friends with some of the other people in recovery.
