Question regarding pediatricians
How far is their office from where you live? My ob/gyn is in Mineola and has suggested doctors in the same building. I live in Melville which is about 25 min. without traffic. Do you think that is too far? Does anyone know doctors in Huntington or surrounding areas?

Are you going to be working or staying home? Time will be more of an issue if you need to get to an office.
In my opinion what matters most is that you absolutely trust your pediatrician and that he/she is able to make you feel comfortable to ask questions. If that means 10 more minutes in the car its worth it!

I have the best pediatrican. He's 6 minutes away. He's in Huntington - Dr. James Cavanagh. He has his own kids, is very good with my kids, talks to them as he's examining them. He calls on his days off to follow up with my kids regarding fevers, etc.
The Medical Group has walk-in hours before 9am, is open on major holidays
I can't say enough good things about this doctor. I've switched pediatricans a few times - one was very condescending, the other was terrific but wasn't covered under our insurance.

Mine was about 20 minutes away.. but I trusted them... Meet with the Pediatrician, if you like him, try him, if not, interview more! Good Luck!

I use North Shore Medical Group - Mt Sinai division. They are awesome. I'm very pleased with them. They are located on 25A in Centerport. I live in Kings Park and it's about 25 minutes.

I live in Queens and my daughters dr. is in woodmere its about a 10 to 15 minute drive but its so worthi ti cuz I love them

My son's pediatrician group is in Mineola too and we live up by Oyster Bay. It's really not far, but with traffic could take up to 30 minutes to get there! But I really like them, so I continue to see them when we need to.

My pediatrician is a 10 minute drive away which is great when they say "Can you bring him/her right in?" if they are sick or need to be seen ASAP. I use to use one in Mineola and I lived in Queens at the time and always drove to them, I loved them so it was no big deal to me. After that I used one in Garden CIty and ultimately changed b/c they were too far from me (massapequa). I wonder if your OB recommende my old pediatric group. It was CPEC, they were awesome.

5 minute drive....but even if i didnt live that close I would have pick him...he has a great reputation and was highly recommended by all the NICU nurses....in fact I see alot of the NICU nurse there are the time with there own children.

Thanks for all of your responses. I guess I will ultimately just interview both close and away from home to see who I feel most comfortable with.

My pediatrician is about 30-40 minutes away. We live in Holbrook and the doctor is in Oyster Bay. We love him so much, that we cannot switch right now.
