A few questions about my puppy
Lately Jersey has been acting a little different than her usual self. She is barking/growling/biting/jumping more than she ever did. I mean she's not bad, she's really a great dog (never has accidents, sleeps in her crate through the night, loves people, etc.) but I'm just wondering:
Why the sudden change. Could it be the weather? Could it be because of her age (she is almost 6 months and will be going to get spayed in May).
Next, she humped for the first time the other day and I was like . It was actually our friend's huge pit bull who she plays with all the timel Is that just a dominance thing?
OK, last question, she has been going under our ottaman/couch lately, she just goes and sits/sleeps under there? Do you think she just likes being closed in under there? Security?
Anyway, thanks for any feedback, this is our first dog so I always have a bunch of questions. ![Chat Icon](c/1.gif)

Re: A few questions about my puppy
It sounds to me like Jersey is going through normal puppy growth and development. Make sure you are consistent with training and do not tolerate the snapping and biting and jumping. Reinforce positive behavior.
It sounds to me like she likes dens. Holden is like that. He always looks to be in something. I think it's normal for some dogs.
I am big advocate of having a professional trainer come in if you have any concerns. Glad to hear that Jersey is a great dog

Re: A few questions about my puppy
As far as your other question some dogs love to be in a confined space. It is biological as in the wild they would try to be covered on as many sides as possible to avoid predators. My dog is 6 and loves this.

Re: A few questions about my puppy
Thanks ladies, I'm hoping the behavior issues are just normal puppy stages like you said. Thank you for your input!

Re: A few questions about my puppy
I agree with Daniella and Melijane...it's normal puppy behaviour and that Jersey likes to den...Wait till Jersey can't fit under the couch anymore..

Re: A few questions about my puppy
Bella went through a really bad stage too. I would have bruises and scratches on my arms from her biting, for a while I thought she was never going to be a "good" dog, but she out grew it, and she is a great dog now!!

Re: A few questions about my puppy
6 months can be a VERY trying time! They get a little kooky but then calm down. Good luck! It will get better. Our trying time was 6-10 months.
