Re: Too lose weight....
Different strokes for different folks.
I believe we live in a society that overeats, so for me, I do believe that A WW approach of eating smaller portions is definitely the trick. Weight loss is all about calories in vs. calories out. While some foods are better than others, you can over eat anything and gain from doing so.
Some people can't do portion control and prefer to eat off of a food list of more healthful foods, yet not feel restricted by portion size.
Ultimately, whatever works for you is the way to go. It is important to choose a lifestyle as opposed to a diet. If you are looking to keep weight off for the long-term, a "diet" is not the way to go.

Re: Too lose weight....
I would say it's always better to eat as healthy as you can. After all you are suppose to eat to live, not live to eat. However let's face it, people enjoy food and the satisfaction it gives you.
I am a volume eatter, so eating half of a higher fat meals portion is not going to work for me. So the majority of my meals are lean protein and veggies. Sometimes a small portion of potato or brown rice.
However when I eat out or at a party I treat myself to whatever I want!

WW doesn't exactly tell you to cut what you normally eat in half. If that were the case, some people would still be eating too much. They tell you to eat a variety of foods so you stay satisfied, but to make more healthy choices. They also stress using the program in conjunction with some form of exercise at least 3x per week.
