Hotels in Universal
We're thinking of going to universal at some point. On their website, it shows 3 hotels: royal pacific resort, hard rock hotel, and porofino bay hotel. Does anyone have input on these hotels. TIA

Re: Hotels in Universal
The Royal Pacific is a REALLY nice hotel. DH had a conference there two years ago. You can either walk to the park, or they have a water taxi from the hotel to the park

Re: Hotels in Universal
Lucky for you, I am an expert as I have stayed in all three! Hard rock is your typical hard rock...music blaring, rock and roll memoralbilia on the walls and a walk away from the parks. Located on site is also a very nice steak house called Palms and a cool/hip vibe lounge type of place called the Velvet lounge. If you stay on a Thursday you might be able to catch a cool old school music group there.
Portifino- The portofino bay hotel is set up a little like the Italian Amalfi coast, VERY PRETTY! THis one is my fav. of the three but just cause I like the scenary! Great resteraunt there too called Bice. Little mama and papa italian place too! Very mom and dad italian homestyle type. There is a ton of shopping here and there is also an AMAZING spa there...oooh I get weak and relaxed just thinking about it! You can walk to the parks too (a bit longer than hard rock) or take a boat. Inside there is a bar called the Americano, cute little nice place.
Royal Pacific is more of a zen/asian type of feel to it. Lots of soft colors, running water, waterfall type of place. The awesome place to hit here is the resteraunt Tchop Chop which is an Emeril Lagassi concept, it too has the Asian flare...GORGEOUS decorating and lovely tasty food! There is a bar in the main floor of this place too...AOK drinks but I can't think of the name. From here you want to take a boat to the parks.
At any of the places you will have a nice time, just depends on how loud or how quiet you want it. You can rent a cabana (for about 100 I think) which I highly recommend if you are going to hang pool side. It's worth it!
Hope that helps..let me know if you have more questions!
