Is it hard to get a catholic school job?

I am wondering if my $35 application fee would be wasted....are there any positions on Long Island? I know the pay is terrible, but at this point, I just need something.

Thanks!

Yes I think it is hard...well it was last year since a few school closed and the those teachers needed jobs. My mother works in a Catholic HS and the principal personally knows that head of HR at the diocese, called her on my behalf and I never got anything

My brother works at a Catholic high school on Long Island. He got the job last year, the Thursday before Labor Day. He was just out of school. I think a lot of it, like everything else, is luck!

Re: Is it hard to get a catholic school job?

I worked in a catholic school for 3 years. I got the job the day after school started. I would apply and then send resumes out to each catholic school over the summer and then fax or send them again at the end of the summer. Most catholic school teachers are looking to get into public schools and they usually get the jobs at the end of the summer and that's when the catholic schools have openings.

Good Luck!!!!

Thanks ladies. I will apply then.

Also, in the application there is something about having a priest fill out paperwork saying you attend church. Is this a requirement, because I don't attend all that often....Chat Icon

Thanks
