Probationary Position
What exactly does that mean? Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Is that usually tenure tracked?

Re: Probationary Position
okie dokie..so we will see what happens next week.
They asked me to bring 3 phone references. I've never heard of that at a first interview. Aren't first interviews usually like 10 minutes?

Re: Probationary Position
I have had very quick first interviews, but most were fairly lengthy--some had writing samples, and applications to fill out. One lasted almost 4 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I did get the job, after all of that!!)

maybe because it's getting so late in the summer, they want to get it over with and eliminate people quickly?

Re: Probationary Position
well hopefully its to my advantage. since most college's don't push business certification, the applicant pool should be pretty small...so you would think???

not necessarily, my first interview was about 60 minutes... and it was my only interview and no demo. lesson for a tenure track position and this was in the spring, not even the summer!.
I would be sure to bring all your references (phone numbers, emails, addresses), copies of your resume and your portfolio if you have one.
at this late stage, principals just want to hire... they're going to get moving on this and let people know fairly quickly.
ETA: and i got the job... so you may too even if it's just a first interview.... GOOD LUCK!
