not on the poll. I sent a bunch of resumes out and hand delivered a bunch in the city. My school called me in for an interview and I got it.

I graduated from the district where I teach... student taught there, subbed there for a month (May-June) when I got certified, then got a job as an AIS tutor for a year and then was hired for self-contained. Now I switched over to reg ed. The whole process of getting a full time teaching position took 1 year and a month.
ETA: but that was 10 years ago... now it's much harder! Good luck!

I was a sub and a leave replacement for one and a half years. At the suggestion of Mrs. Schwags I sent my resume to the school that hired me. I interviewed and was hired on the spot.

I was a student teacher then sub who was hired as a building sub (aka site-based sub)
When the district eliminated the positions we were put on a waiting list for immediate hire as soon as there was an opening.
I didnt need to interview or do a lesson or anything. I was very lucky.

i e-mailed my resume to the school on a whim, they called me for an interview and called me on my home to offer me the position.

i student taught there for the begining of the year, subbed for the rest of the year, then was hired part time for the following year... then my position turned into full time...
