My Poor Baby
One of my pups, Brutus, who is a 90lb lab, is hurt. It looks like he might have torn his ACL and he'll need expensive surgery to repair it. We aren't 100% sure yet, since he's so strong the vet could manipulate his leg enough to know for sure. He's on pain meds and anti-inflamatories for a week to see how it heals up. If not he'll need to be sedated so they can find out for sure. Say a prayer for my baby that he just strained his leg and its not more serious. I hate that he is in pain right now!

We thought my dog tore her ACL too last summer. We were in LI visiting my parents when it happened and took her to the emergency vet, and they said it was torn and she would need surgery, since we don't live on LI anymore, we opted to bring her back to VA and have our vet check her out. It was the best thing we could have done, because the vet in LI wanted her to have surgery the next day. Well our vet in VA examined her leg by sedating her, and discovered that both knees had the same amount of give, so he recommened strict cage rest, and pain meds, well a week later, she was walking again, and less then a month later she was completely fine!! Hopefully your dog didn't tear his ACL, because from what we have heard it is a long recovery, my prayers are with you!
