anyone's DH/FH on propecia?
I'm a little panicked right now. My DH went to donate blood at work today and wasn't able to because he takes propecia for hair loss. He was also told, and then did some research, that there are very slim possibilities that taking propecia can cause birth defects. Does anyone know anything about this?

I don't know about it...but maybe do a search on the net...or just call your Dr.
I would also maybe call Propecia direct and ask them questions...

I called the DR. but he didn't call back for a while. I will try to get in touch with him again tomorrow.

I believe the birth defects would only occur if your a woman taking propecia or exposed to it (like if the pill melted in your hand or something).

Yes I believe there is a warning on the label that pregnant women should not handle this pill.

I don't know anything about this med,. However, meds in general that your dh can take may very well effect his sperm.
Many people think it's the woman, who has to worry, about everything. Sperm is a major factor here as well.

Just so everyone knows, I spoke with my DR. today and he said that as long as I don't have any contact with the pills, then we have nothing to worry about. So I spoke with DH, who is thrilled he won't lose his hair , and he's just going to be extra careful and make sure to wash his hands after taking the pill.

I've heard that too about propecia, I think they say on their commercials that women who are pregant and TTC should not touch the pills.
