Donate a Square (knit or crochet)
I saw this in the Michaels in Rocky Point - there is a basket at the door where you drop a 7x9 square. They turn them into blankets to donate.
I thought it was a wonderful idea. I have a lot of sample squares hanging around that I just throw away.

So cool!
I heard something about this on "Knitty Gritty," but didn't know the details. Thanks for the info!

Re: Donate a Square (knit or crochet)
michael's collects squares for warm up america. great cause!
make sure the squares are the right size!
great tip: use 100% acrylic yarn. since this is going to be for the homeless, acrylic is easier to care for.
i've dropped off many, many squares as i work through my stash
