I have used school notes in the past. It is a pretty decent site.
My school now uses Echalk and it is great! Now the students and parents have no excuses not to do homework.

My district uses Blackboard (we call it 24/7 learning) and every teacher is expected to have a page set up for their class for the parents and students.

scholastic is great! You can set that up on there, have a classroom website, and let your parents order books from there too!
