Question about Secondary Ed Bilingual programs/jobs
Im going to call a few schools this week, but incase anyone knows offhand.
Is it a huge amount of /difference in credits to get certifed in TWO languages as opposed to just one?
If one teacher teaches 2 languages, is there a financial benefit ?
or (for example) instead of teaching 6 ITalian classes, you would just get 3 Italian 3 Spanish and its no different salary wise ?

Not bilingual, but teaching a foreign language... To get certified in your second language it's 30 credit hours plus the content specialty exam. There is no financial benefit, but it is much easier to find a job.

no financial benefit - you would be under the same contract as everyone else.
you would definitely be more marketable, but 1 language or 2 - you would still be very much in demand.

Being able to teach two languages is a plus when you are looking for a job. But the pay would be the same. No difference there.

Re: Question about Secondary Ed Bilingual programs/jobs
Thanks for the info ladies!
Im going to start looking into Elem Ed bilingual positions before I attempt to pursue another masters. (I already have the Elem ed)
was just keeping it (the secondary ed possiblity) as an option if my job hunt goes nowhere...
let the games begin

Re: Question about Secondary Ed Bilingual programs/jobs
No financial benefit but you do not need an additional masters Anna just the 30 credits, but then again you are close enough to one, might as well go for it, right?
The other asset, we see if enrollment declines in the one language you teach then at least they can put you into the other without having to worry about being reduced to part time or excessed
