Product Overload

Sometimes I feel like the only one....I see all these natural gals and I just WISH I could be like that but I'm not.

Whenever I go somewhere overnight I have an entire BAG dedicated to JUST products. I have so much CRAP that I use. From what I use in the shower (shampoo, conditioner, bath gloves, razor, comb, lotion) to when I do my hair (hair gel, texturizer, blow dryer, hair spray) to makeup (not even going to list this) to jewelry to outfits....

I totally get this from my Mom....she can't go anywhere spontaneously....it's just how I am...but sometimes I feel like I'm in the minority. Like, these chicks that can workout at the gym and take a shower there and then go to work...NEVER!

AM I the ONLY one? I know some of you ladies straight iron your hair every day and that takes a lot of dedication so I must not be the only high maintenance chick....

I'm one of those ladies. I wash and go. Don't go crazy with my hair, don't wear make-up. My skin has thanked me for it, and I enjoy the extra time I have.

I wouldn't say that I have product overload, but I'm not "wash and go" either.

I guess I'm somewhere in between

Re: Product Overload

I am both.

I can wash and go. I can walk out of my house sans make up and with a wet head. it doesn't really phase me most times.

but if I want to look/feel a certain way, I break out some of my products/make up...

but no bath gloves for me Chat Icon

but being a product whore doesn't have to impede spontaneity...there are pharmacy's, drug stores, and Sephora's all over the world. (not to mention dept stores) no reason why you can't jump on a plane/train/or automobile with nothing but your purse

I'm the same. When I'm going to work, I do the bare minimum with my hair and I do my makeup on the train (yes, I am THAT girl) but I don't wear all that much anyway.

On weekends or while I'm on vacation, I take a lot more time with my appearance and I break out the 'tool kit'.

I'm wash and go, no makeup now that I'm not working. A lot of it has to with the fact that I have zero confidence in being able to do my own hair or makeup. A lot of times I'll see people post products on here and I'll think "What do you use that for?"

Re: Product Overload

I have the opposite problem.... I have ALWAYS been wash and go and I've been looking at pics of myself lately and realize I probably should be blow drying my hair and wearing a little makeup... I'm kind of jealous of people who know exactly what products to use and how to use them...I'm clueless

I used to be both and now I feel I am just wash and go. I have no issue going out without make-up but then I feel I am not taking care of myself. Then 2 seconds later, I don't care.

Re: Product Overload

I am a little of both. I don't wear tons of makeup. Until about 6 months ago, I didn't wear ANY make up. And, like Trish said, my skin really does thank me for it. But now I have been a little more high maintenance than usual. But it still only takes me 10 minutes. If I had to pack a bag and go, this is what would be in it:

Face wash
Toner
Face cream
Shampoo
Conditioner
Pomade
(I am very picky about my hair so I have to use my special products, I can't use just anything)

But recently, I have added:
Dr. Feelgood (Benefit)
mascara
EyeCon (Benefit--it REALLY works!)

Once in a while I'll put on my Bare Essentials powder foundation and eyeshadow, but rarely.

Re: Product Overload

I'm not wash and go - But I'm not a product whore either - (My sister, the stylist, cringes every time she sees me wash my face w/ Dove Soap)
I DO however have very particular hair care regimine and I never leave the house w/o minimal makeup -

I can be spontaneous........I have a separate bag dedicated to vacations/overnight/weekend getaways with all of my products .....Lol !! - I am ALWAYS prepared. (it comes in handy if I happen to run out of something too !)

Re: Product Overload

Middle of the road is very hard for me.

Once I start, It takes forever, so I do wash 'n go most work days, but only b/c I don't have time.
If I have a few minutes, I'll dry my hair, and then I'll end up taking too long & missing the train.

I'm way too self conscous to go without any make-up, so Ill put on conceler & lip gloss on the train.

The washing part of wash 'n go still takes a while- face scrub, face soap, body wash, razor, 2 shampoos, conditione and then there is the skin loitons & moisturizers and body powder.

And now I want to look into this whole 'bath glove" thing!

I have to travel for a wedding this weekend, and thank goodness it is a road trip, b/c I have to pretty much bring everything.
Usually for business trips & vactions I pare down, but but I want to look/feel/smell good for the wedding, and other associated events.

I'm not that way, but I sometimes wish I was. I'm all about hair up, a hat and some sunglasses when I need to be on the go.

Re: Product Overload

I hate lugging around a lot of products. When I go away I bring a few Oil of Olay wipes in a baggie, moisturizer and my make-up (I'll use whatever shampoo the hotel provides). I'm too lazy to be a product gal - plus, that crap gets expensive!

This is me. And when I do put in the effort I feel great but if I do it every day then it's just normal so I am keeping it "special" Chat Icon

Same here!! When I commuted I sometimes did my makeup on the train. Now I do a quick makeup job for everyday, but when I travel I need my products. Part of the reason I have to make sure to have everything is that I am picky about products and use a few things that are not easy to get.

I'm not wash and go at all and could never walk out with NO makeup and wet hair. but neither is my mother so maybe it's just something we learned from an early age.
