What's an average for a gym membership these days?
DH and I are looking to get into shape so I was thinking about getting us a gym membership. I've never had a gym membership before so just wondering how much it is before I start shopping around for a gym.

My gym is 45 a month. That was 4 years ago though. new members pay like 50. so i guess the average is like 50. some are more some are less. When you shop around for prices i would also look at the equpiment and just look around to see if you would feel comfy working out there. DH and i checked out a gold's by us when we moved and everything was way too close together for us. we felt like we were on top of eachother. So just check everything out real good.

I checked all in the kings park/smithtown/commack/hauppauge area and the best price i got is $55/month per person if 2 sign up, $65/month per person if only 1 person

I am not sure where you are located but we joined the YMCA in Bay Shore, its $59 a month for both of us, they have great cardio equipment with tv's and tons of classes. I think for 2 peoiple its very reasonably priced. Also I believe if you have vytra health insurance you get a discount if you pre pay the year.

My gym is 30 bucks a month but I know that's pretty rare.
I would agree - 50 is just about standard.

wow - i've never seen memberships that low, that's great! I belong to equinox...very expensive - $100+ - but i love it. its my splurge.

I went from spending $150 at Equinox in the city to paying $34.99 at LA Fitness in Atlanta! With the money saved I joined a yoga studio and a personal training studio....and am still under the $150!!
