Cystic Fibrosis Carrier
I just found out that I am a carrier...I am not preg, but am planning on TTC this summer. My husband is getting tested in 2 weeks and we are going for genetic counseling...anyone go through this process...I am curious what it was like.

I can imagine this must be nerve wracking for you and DH. I only had the regular series done by Quest for genetic testing and since all was ok we didn't have to pursue any more.

Thanks Donna...I actaully was tested b/c we are both Jewish and wanted to rule out the diseases prone to our background...my doctor added others in while we were testing anyway...this was the one I least expected to come up. We are hopeful that he will not be a carrier.
I just need peace of mind.

I went through this.
I was tested to see if I was a carrier as it runs in my family
Thankfully I wasn't- they took a few vials of blood and I had results in about 5 days.

I had the testing done and DH and I are not carriers. My best friend is a carrier, luckilly her husband is not, so they didn't have to worry.
I'll say a prayer that your DH is not a carrier 
ETA: it was just blood work, we had the results within a week or so.

I had the testing done, but it came back ok. A friend of my sister's results came back that she was a carrier and she had a healthy baby girl. Best of luck to you. I'm sorry you have to go through this stress.

I have not gone through the testing, but I just wanted to say I am sorry you are dealing with this stress right now and I hope that DH is not also a carrier.

I discovered after I was pregnant that I was a carrier. It was one of the worst moments in my life. Thankfully we went for genetic testing and hubby was not a carrier. Even if one parent is a carrier, there is a chance of the baby having CF BUT the chances are minimal. The genetic counselors were awesome and explained everything very thoroughly. It took about two weeks to get the results.

HI Girls...My hubby and I are going on the 7th for his blood test and counseling. I am a little confused as to why we are being counseled prior to his results...but that is fine. We are going to LIJ at Snyder Children's Hospital.

They want to research both your physical backgrounds so they can be proactive in case there is something additional they should be looking for in the blood test results.
Also, they need to give you the facts. It's very educational
