Re: How do you make mashed potatoes in your kitchen aid mixer?
Is there something special? I would just put the potatoes milk and butter in and whip away!!! I use a hand mixer to whip my potatoes so I dont see why it would be any different with kitchen-aid

Re: How do you make mashed potatoes in your kitchen aid mixer?
i never used a hand mixer - but i was searching for recipes for my kitchen aid and saw a lot of people using their mixers. I always did it by hand but I want to try the kitchen aid mixer. I don't think it is anything special! I am not a cook by any means so I don't do anything without explicit instructions :) Thanks!

Re: How do you make mashed potatoes in your kitchen aid mixer?
I made 5 lbs of mashed potatoes in my kitchen aid for Thanksgiving.
I dumped the boiled potatoes in the bowl then added a stick and a half of butter, 1/2 a cup of hot milk then added salt & pepper to taste.
I let the kitchen aid run for about 10 minutes on the 2nd speed, stopping every now and then to scrape the sides of the bowl.
it came out SO creamy and delicious!!

This is why I like to mix it by hand. I like a few small chunks of potato in my mash.

What attachment do you use? I seem to have problems whenever I use the mixer for my potatoes.

Add the potatoes with milk, butter and salt and pepper. In the end I add a teaspoon or two of mayo.

What attachment do you use? I seem to have problems whenever I use the mixer for my potatoes. I use the white ceramic attachment (pictured above). what kind of problems are you having?

I was using the whisk attachment, and everything was getting stuck inside the whisk. I don't know why I didn't try the other one. I'll do a trial run this week and see how it turns out. Thanks!

Re: How do you make mashed potatoes in your kitchen aid mixer?
Personally I HATE mashed potatoes in the mixer. I prefer them hand mixed with a masher, not a mixed because to me they taste better.

I tried using the metal wisk attachment once - never again! not unless all I need to do is mix up some eggs
